Guide to gifting

At the completion of a project, you’re encouraged to organise a lunch, gift or other with your client to acknowledge your successful collaboration.

The amount to spend will be dependent on the fee, relationship, and potential avenues for repeat business. Here are some loose guidelines and ideas.

General guidelines

Up to $20k fee:
  • Consultants to organise a lunch (or gift) with client contacts.
  • Typical spend: $100 – $200 per person
$20k and above fee:
  • Lunch and welcoming gift / larger gift
Typical spend:

Lunch: $100 – $200 per person

Gift: $100– $200 per gift

NFP client:
  • Lunch and donation / rebate
  • Typical spend: amount to be discussed with the business
General gifting guidelines:
  • Where possible, gifts should be meaningful and have a personal touch
  • Gifts are best given at inspections of new office or at the completion of a project over lunch
  • If the size or circumstances of the project warrants a gift, the typical spend is approximately $100 – $200 per gift

Tip: How you lunch is up to you. Sometimes a pub meal or a few drinks will be better suited to your client - it’s completely at your discretion.
